About Us

We tryna grow Skateboarding in Southern Colorado!

Push It Trinidad is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to grow skateboarding in Southern Colorado where skateparks are far and few between. The existing skateparks in Southern Colorado are in need of major repair or are outdated leaving the local skaters under-served in our communities. Our local skatepark in Trinidad is dangerous due to neglect and lack of maintenance over the past 20+ years. Our group has been working hard the past 2 years to get the city to hire a qualified skatepark construction company (preferably Grindline Skateparks) to renovate the existing skatepark and work towards a Phase 2 to add beginner friendly skate features. However, due to staff issues, our project has stalled.

Meanwhile, while enduring the debacle with the skatepark repairs, our only other alternative place to skate was a long standing skatespot with props provided by the local skaters at a dilapidated basketball court on campus. The ramps and ledges were maliciously destroyed during a skate session by security guards hired by Trinidad State College to keep the students safe.  The basketball court is now locked for no one to use.

As you can see, there is an extreme need for skateboarding to re-emerge as a viable avenue for outdoor recreation as well as the skateparks to be viewed accurately as a valued amenity that serves the local community as well bring in tourism revenue.

Starting this organization is a way for us to to serve the community and create awareness for the always growing industry in Southern Colorado.

Through our own experiences as skateboarders, we know that skateboarding is an underrated social activity that benefits us in so many ways mentally and physically. Seeing a need for something like this, we decided to create this organization to promote skateboarding and hope to inspire neighboring communities to Trinidad to provide safe places for people to skate. We are hoping to show other neighboring towns how providing safe places to skate can enrich their local community as well as bring in visitors traveling in the area! Everyone knows skateboarders love to check out new spots, but to get them to come to our towns, we must ensure there is access to skateparks that are maintained and safe.
